Assessment of Urban Flood Vulnerability Using Integrated Multi-parametric AHP and GIS

Flooding is considered the most dangerous natural disaster in Vietnam. The purpose of this study to assess flood vulnerability level based on pre-event characteristic Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi, zoning map was generated by using a multi-parametric approach and integrates some flooding causative factors namely slope, land use, percentage green, per capita sewer length line. analytic hierarchy process (AHP) applied determine weighted correlation among components their importance phenomenon. As result, Consistency Ratio (CR) case 0.025 use determined as weightiest parameter at 0.52. quantified classified into four levels, low, moderate, high, very high with support GIS software. result showed that district faces vulnerability, distributed mainly Old Quarter area, where population densely populated drainage system outdated. In which, 61.3 ha (11.3%) low-vulnerability zones, 123.3 (22.7%) moderate 328.8 (60.5%) high-vulnerability 30.2 (5.5%) zones.
